Walking with Opa
The carefully preserved photos spanning from 1914 to the 1970’s within my grandfathers albums provide an intimate window into the past.
They enable me to connect to a man and wider family that I never met in person but whose lived experience and creativity is vividly brought to life through the lens of his camera.
This ongoing project involves integrating his photos into my artistic practice, providing a means to deepen my understanding of his visual storytelling and the experiences of my ancestors.
“It is as if a silent, greater family, stretching down the centuries, were peopling the house. There I live in my second personality and see life in the round, as something forever coming into being and passing on”
— Carl Jung
